Week 1 - Topic 2 - Your Brain’s Systems
Let’s learn about each of these systems, one at a time, helping us translate the things we experience at work into an understanding of what is actually happening in a person’s mind.
The Safety System of the Brain
Learn about the first and most basic system, responsible for keeping you safe, assessing for threats, and kicking you into fight, flight, and stress mode.
The Reward System of the Brain
Learn about the next, smarter, but still imperfect system of the brain, responsible for desiring rewards, pleasure, peace, happiness, and outcomes.
The Purpose System of the Brain
Learn about the intellectual, impact-oriented, comprehension-focused, connected part of the brain, responsible for your deep desire for life and your actions to have meaning.
How the Systems Create Instinct and Intellect
Learn about how instinct, intellect, and intuition work.
THe Real world: Choosing Between Systems
OK, so now let’s get back to reality. While the 3 systems are really simple, real life is a bit more complex and it will almost always test us to see which system we choose. Here’s how that will go, and why you see the behaviors you see around you so often.
